The Fuquay-Varina Arts Council is sponsoring the participation of children/young adults ages 7-17 in the En Plein Air paint off in Downtown Fuquay-Varina on Friday April 11th.
Participants will set up and paint a scene of their choice at the Museum Park in Fuquay-Varina. Each will be given two hours to set up, paint, and tidy up from 3:30 – 5:30pm before heading to the stage area where they will be introduced to the public along with their finished artworks. At 6:30PM, they will have a chance to bring their finished works to Torrey Hill to be displayed.
Participants will be limited to the first twenty registrants. The Arts Council will provide an 11×14 canvas. Participants must provide their own art supplies (i.e., acrylic paints, brushes, art easel, container for water and rags/paper towels).
Participants must also register the name of a person responsible for attending to the artist’s needs throughout the event. Those 14 and under must have a parent or guardian present.
As participants sign up they will be asked if they would like to keep their painting or have it auctioned off during the Celebration of the Arts (June 7th).* If they choose to have it auctioned, they will receive half of the proceeds from the auction. The remainder will support the Fuquay-Varina Arts Council in their work supporting the arts and fostering creativity in the community
*Due to restrictions, only the first ten who wish to have their work auctioned will be accepted. The works that will be auctioned will be on display at Torrey Hill on Main St. until the auction date.
**There is a rain date scheduled for April 18th.
