Holiday Home Tour prep at Ballentine-Spence HouseI can feel mother winter’s cool fingers tickling all around just aching to really lay a beautiful cover of white for all of us to wonder
and gaze at.  We still have a few beautiful clear blue and sunny days left to enjoy and relish.

As I gaze out of my office window I can hear people raking up leaves, see the sun shining down on our side porch and hear children calling to each other.  What a beautiful and wonderful community we live in.

Mistletoe Madness Holiday Market at Ballentine-Spence House garland from Wreaths by DebbieOur first Mistletoe Madness Holiday Market was a true success with twelve amazing and talented local artisans and crafters,  Our event attracted more than 400 attendees.

I would like to thank everyone who helped to make this event fun and enjoyable for everyone including our family, friends, local shops, and community members. And specially my co-host Delores Davis, who had the brilliant idea to host a holiday market to begin with.

Teen Mastermind group in Fuquay-VarinaWe enjoyed hosting the November Teen Mastermind group here at the Ballentine-Spence House for their fun scavenger hunt, baking challenge, and many fun team challenges.

Each month I put together ideas for fun activities and team challenges for the teens to enjoy, learn, and grow! These kids are going to be our leaders some day and I am thrilled and honored to have the opportunity to get to know them as the amazing and wonderful people they are.

The following work was completed on the property:

  • Ballentine-Spence House front railingGordon Stephenson built and installed a beautiful new hand railing for our front steps.
  • Sheer curtains were installed in the dining room and kitchen.
  • Lace curtains were installed in both bathrooms.
  • Almost all of the Christmas decorations and trees are up for the holiday events
  • Several light fixtures have more efficient light bulbs installed
  • 10 brand new smoke detectors have been installed

The following work is still in progress to be completed:

  • Looking for a few rugs for the front parlor and entry area
  • Exterior window coverings are being re-installed for winter
  • Planting bushes in the side yard
  • Priming and painting shed in backyard
  • Sealing, priming, and painting tin roof

Tickets may be purchased at Mad Hatter, David Anthony’s, Shoppes on Main and Garden Hut.

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone Teen Mastermind movie dayDecember Teen Mastermind: We are excited about hosting a fun movie day for our Teen Mastermind group on Saturday, December 13th. Everyone will be enjoying the very first Harry Potter movie, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone.

Campbell family Christmas potluck at Ballentine-Spence HouseWe are hosting a fun Campbell Family Christmas Potluck on Saturday, December 20th.

Join our family as we celebrate the holidays by reading “Twas the night before Christmas”, sharing a meal, decorating cookies and singing Christmas Carols. And of course we will have “A Charlie Brown Christmas” playing throughout the party.

We enjoyed a wonderful homemade Thanksgiving this year with all of us holding hands around the table giving thanks for all of the special people in our lives and the wonderful memories we have made throughout the year.
