secret passageway opened at historical landmark in north carolinaAfter nearly twenty-five years a secret passageway has been restored to working order at the Ballentine-Spence House in the historic downtown area of Fuquay-Varina, NC.

The passageway was originally installed back around 1925 by the Spence family which provided guests with an easy way to access the entire east side of the house.

With the help of local wood sleuths we discovered the original wooden doorway casings and header boards which had been carefully stored in the old carriage house by former owners: Jim & Shirley Hunsberger.

We are now able to close the main library doors and open up the entire east side of the house once more for fun parties and intimate evenings at home.

Thank you for being a part of our journey.
