This is the original coal burning fireplace from 1910.

The transformation of our coal burning fireplace into a wood burning stove insert was rigorous but well worth the delays.

Utilizing the 12 foot ceilings to our advantage along with the new door way that opens up the entire east side of the house has really maximized the heating capacity of our new wood burning fireplace.

Here is the new wood burning stove insert.

The crackle of the wood and warm glow of the fire soothingly transcends us from 2016 all the way back to 1910.

Embracing the basics has been a lesson of using what is practical and simple. It has made a world of difference in how we enjoy our evenings and spend our time together.
